Obituary For Austin Glos

Remembering Austin Joseph Glos Austin Joseph Glos was born to Tom and Kelly Glos on July 22, 1987, in Houston, Texas. From the beginning, Austin was full of personality-funny, expressive, and entirely his own person. He had a happy childhood alongside his little sister Hannah, quickly developing his own unique way of seeing and moving through the world. Life brought him seasons of deep sorrow and great joy, and through it all, one thing remained constant: love was always present, even in the hardest moments. He graduated from Alief Taylor High School in Houston, where he found his calling in the theater department. Austin lit up on stage and was a natural performer, captivating audiences with his energy and talent. After high school, he set off on a winding path of discovery, attending four colleges in seven years before earning his degree in Journalism at the University of Alaska. His parents joked that it was the farthest he could get from them-and vice versa-but that adventurous, independent spirit was pure Austin. Eventually, he returned home to Houston, where he worked in catering and found joy in making people feel welcome. Cooking was a passion, and he had a true gift for creating beautiful, elaborate charcuterie boards. Austin was magnetic. He had a wicked sense of humor and could impersonate anyone-always the life of the party. He never met a stranger and made people feel seen, even in the briefest of encounters. Whether talking with someone in line or telling stories around a table, he had a way of bringing laughter and light. He adored his little Shih Tzu, RuthAnne, and treated her like royalty. He never met a cookie or sour candy he didn't like, and would eat more food than anyone could imagine for such a small guy. He was a die-hard Astros fan. He loved digging in the dirt and watching things grow. He found joy in music, especially artists like Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé. He was the biggest pop culture fan, tuning in daily for Wendy Williams. The day he went to her show was one of his happiest days. Family meant everything to Austin. He was especially close to his grandfather, "Papa" Joe, and deeply mourned the loss of his Granny. He adored his 3-year-old niece and often said, "My sister birthed her, but she's my baby." The love was mutual, and "Uncle Bubba" is still the only person Olivia would share her beloved goldfish with. Above all else, Austin loved Jesus. His faith was genuine and personal. He rarely missed a service from Joel Osteen at Lakewood Church and carried a deep awareness of God's presence in his life. Amid joy and struggle, he held onto that spiritual connection. The words of Romans 8:38-39 remind us of that promise: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers... will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Austin's life was complicated and beautiful. He was imperfect, and no one who knew him would pretend otherwise, but above all, he was full of love, laughter, depth, and light. He had a huge heart. He never stopped loving and being loved in return. He is survived by his parents, Thomas Glos and Kelly Spann Glos; his sister Hannah Brooks and husband Kyle; his beloved niece Olivia Brooks; and his grandfather, "Papa" Joe Spann; aunts and uncles and numerous cousins. He joins Edward "Papa" and Louise "Granny" Glos, and Francis "Grandma" Overman in heaven, where we trust he has found rest and peace.
