Robert Scott, 71, beloved husband, father, and step-father, was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Yeshua/Jesus, in his eternal life on April 1, 2025. He entered this world on February 4, 1954 in Fort Smith, AR, born to Robert B and Ruby M Scott. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Carol Scott; daughter, Rebekah Corbin, and husband, Ryan; step-son James Measures, and wife Jordan; grandchildren Rose Corbin and Rhett Corbin; sister-in-law Judy Scott; brother-in-law Dale Kees and wife Yvonne; nieces Leigh Anne Andreason, Kristi Hardin, and Jamie Scott; cousins Tami Weeden, Doug Rye, Mike Morris, Paul Bentley, Joey Bentley, and Phyllis West. Robert grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He attended the University of Arkansas, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in history. He went on to earn a Masters in History there as well. To these, Robert added a Masters in Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Masters in Religion at Baylor University. He did post-grad studies in religion at Dallas Theological Seminary, as well as the Messianic Jewish Bible Institute. Partial Work History: Chaplain at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, Dallas, Texas Hospice chaplain, Hillcrest Baptist, Waco, Texas Hospital chaplain at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, Waco, Texas Pastor at Canaan Baptist Church, Crawford, Texas Graduate Assistant at Baylor University Houseparent at Happy Hill Farm Academy/Home for youth Historian at Old State House Museum, Little Rock, Arkansas Most who knew Robert thought of him as a quieter personality. Some first words that come to mind in thinking of him: kind, grateful, patient, generous, life-long learner, stable in his beliefs, loving, steady, outdoorsman. After he retired because of illness, about his 21 years of hospice work, Robert said, "This was the vocational love of my life. I miss terribly being with patients, caregivers, and hospice team members and other care staff. There's nothing like it." It was obvious to many that he was made for this vocation. Robert was never a prankster, but he could craft the funniest clever responses to a variety of situations. He enjoyed old comedies from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. In recent years, Robert became very good at saying thank you to his family for all they were doing to help him with his many medical conditions. He was truly an humble man though he had great accomplishments. The family wishes to give special thanks to Faith Presbyterian Hospice for their excellent care of Robert in his last days, and make special mention of Maria Barker who was an exceptional caregiver at home the last few months. Among some of Robert's interests and hobbies were baseball, backpacking in remote wilderness, running, APBA baseball board game, and marathons. He earned several awards in his decades of running marathons. Some quotations from Robert over the last few years of his increasing disability and suffering: When asked why he wanted to continue living, he responded, "G-d gave me this life and He hasn't said, 'Stop living,'" and, "I want to live for you (Carol), my children, and grandchildren." "Every night l thank G-d for getting me through the day and through the hard times. I praise Him." "Please pray for me to be more dependent on G-d." One of Robert's favorite scripture passages was "Trust in Adonai with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." Prov 3:5-6 He leaves an aching void in the lives of those who were blessed to be loved by him, but we know this is not the end of Robert's story. "Now we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Yeshua died and rose again, so with Him God will also bring those who have fallen asleep in Yeshua. For this we tell you, by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord shall in no way precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself shall come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the blast of God's shofar, and the dead in Messiah shall rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left behind, will be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air-and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 7, at 2 p.m., at Baruch HaShem Messianic Synagogue, 6304 Beltline Road, Dallas, TX. Donations in Robert's memory may be made to Baruch HaShem Messianic Synagogue or Faith Presbyterian Hospice T. Boone Pickens Center.
